Mel and I went to see Hamlet in Stratford-upon-Avon this evening. Tickets are now impossible to get: the draw of David Tennant and Patrick Stewart as the two leads is hard to resist.

The whole cast was excellent, and it felt very intimate: we were sat on the front row corner of the circle; the stage was rarely dressed, it was low and the actors often entered and left through the aisles.

One of the best experiences of going to the theatre is seeing the incestuous pleasure you give the actors by wild applause for the enjoyment they have give you.
