Christmas just got a whole lot more interesting. #19508f or #005fe6?
Updating my diary in a Finnish hotel room - the last few months have been a whirlwind of travel: a lot of it to Stockholm. However, the main impetus is that a screenshot of my homepage might be used in some
Hermes promotional material. Cool :-)
Got
Star Trek on DVD for my birthday. It's a decent enough action film, but I can see why so many Star Trek fans didn't like it: it throws away (by doing the alternate timeline thing)
all Trek to date. That's worse than ignoring it, or pretending it didn't happen - it's outright
saying it didn't happen (any more). I'm also unkeen on the production design (why so many pointy bits on the drill? why is the Enterprise all white?) and going straight from ensign to captain doesn't seem very realistic either. However, the acting was good; the effects were fine and it's always good to see Leonard Nimoy as Spock and to have a Star Trek film in the public consciousness. The hard question though: was it actually better than
Nemesis?
